Smartphones sensor and Use of sensor in Phone

What is Smartphone Sensor?
A smartphone sensor is any one of a number of different types of sensing devices installed on a user's phone to gather data for various user purposes, often in conjunction with a mobile app.

There are different type of sensor in Smartphones
1) Accelerometer Sensor                                                2) Gyroscope Sensor
3) Ambiant light Sensor                                                 4) Proximity Sensor
5) Fingerprint Sensor                                                     6) Infrared Sensor
7) Magnetometer Sensor                                               8) Barometer Sensor
9) Thermometer Sensor                                                10) Pedometer Sensor

1). Accelerometer Sensor :- An accelerometer detects acceleration, tilt and vibration to determine movement and orientation.

2). Gyroscope Sensor :- A gyroscope identifies up/down, left/right and rotation around three axes for more complex orientation details.

3). Ambiant light Sensor :- A light sensor detects data about lighting levels in the environment to adapt the display accordingly.

4). Proximity Sensor :- A proximity sensor detects when the the phone is held to the face to make or take a call, so the touch screen display can be disabled to avoid unintended input.

5). Fingerprint Sensor :- A fingerprint sensor can enable biometric verification for secure device and website authentication as well as mobile payment.

6). Infrared Sensor :- An infrared sensor can be used to identify user movements for gesture recognition. Televisions and other home entertainment appliances use IR remote controls, some smartphones can be configured to control these devices using third party applications. There are universal remote apps available for IR enabled phones.

7). Magnetometer Sensor  :- A magnetometer detects the direction of magnetic north and,
in conjunction with GPS, determines the user's location.

8). Barometer Sensor :-  A sensor that can measure atmospheric pressure. Data measured by it is used to determine how high the device is above sea level, which in turn results in improved
GPS accuracy.

9). Thermometer Sensor :- The  thermometer for measuring ambient temperature.

10). Pedometer Sensor :- The pedometer is a sensor used for counting the number of steps that the user has taken.
